Box framing basics
Box frames aren’t just designed for collectables and mementos; they make beautiful picture frames too. Essentially, a box frame is just one frame sitting inside another, with the mount placed deep into the frame. You simply tape the photo to the back of the picture mount and voila – floating picture. It’s really very effective.

Looking for some ideas for your box frame – here are a few of our favourites:
- Collectables. What are you into? We’ve seen some fantastic examples of box frames featuring stamps, postcards and collectable cards, collectable figures, models and toys…
- Mementos. Memory boxes are lovely – little treasure troves of mementos. But how much better to put your most treasured family mementos on display? From baby shoes to trophies to all sorts of personal effects.
- Books. Old books and treasured volumes can look really effective when framed. We’ve provided box frames for album covers too.
- Clothes. School shoes and sports and football shirts seem to be the favourites. but we could whip you up a nice box frame just to give your picture the appearance of floating in mid air.
